Help support our Laveen students by joining us for the 1st Annual Laveen Scholarship Scramble. All proceeds will go towards awarding Laveen students scholarship money for college - And best of all, you simply have to do what you ordinarily do on Sunday anyway...play golf!

The Scholarship Scramble will kickoff at 7:00am (so be there early) at Aguila Golf Course at 8440 S. 35th Avenue on Sunday, April 28. You can get your winning team together or let us put you in a fantastic foursome. For more information check out the Scholarship Scramble Flier as well as the Scholarship Letter to the Community.

For nine years the Laveen Community Council has given scholarships to area students that are graduating high school and we would like to give out more scholarship opportunities to help with economic needs in our community. We hope that you will help us give more than ever before and participate in the Laveen Scholarship Golf Scramble on Saturday, April 28. All the proceeds will go to scholarship recipients for the Fall 2012-2013 school year. Thank you!

The 60th Annual Laveen Pit BBQ - Thank You!!

Sunday, February 12th at Betty H. Fairfax High School

And for the 60th year in a row...we did it! But not without a LOT of help. There are just too many people who helped make this year a success, but we'd like to recognize a few very key folks.

First, a huge thank you to the Chair and Co--Chair of the BBQ, Jason Douse and JoDee Krippene. This event simply does not happen without you two.

Second, another giant thank you to our presenting sponsor, Vision Community Management. They know what it means to support a community and there just aren't words to describe their generosity. They had a few wonderful employees working their booth at the BBQ and every one of them was as nice as could be.

Third, an all-encompassing thank you to every single volunteer that gave of their time to help, as there is no way this event could happen without all of you. The schools, the churches, the sports organizations, the PitMasters, and all the individuals in this great community came together to make this event the best in Laveen.

Lastly, a final thank you to Betty H. Fairfax High School for being so gracious with their space and their employees while we reworked the logistics of the change in venue. For those who didn't know, the Laveen Elementary School is under heavy construction being turned into administration buildings, so the BBQ could not be held at the normal location.

We love feedback, good or bad, so please email us at council@laveen.org if you have thoughts on improvements for next year. See you at the 61st!

This has been an idea of ours for a long time - to get some information on the website that can actually empower the community to fight back against crime in their neighborhoods. Whether its simple blights and graffiti to more serious offenses, the hope for this page is for it to become a one-stop to CrimeStop!

It is still definitely a work in progress, so check back for updates. And of course, if you have any suggestions for the page, do not hesitate to email us at council@laveen.org.
